Learn from Singapore’s most prestigious team of scientists and engineers and be inspired! The YDSP World of Science introduces advanced topics in physical science and infocomm technology that are important and relevant to defence. You can look forward to a series of informative and interesting lectures and laboratory sessions covering both fundamental concepts and advanced topics.

At the end of the programme, you will be given the opportunity to work on a research project in the Research@YDSP Programme, to gain a greater understanding of the Defence Technology Community.

The World of Science are learning hubs established on a range of advanced topics related to defence science and technology. Its programme includes a 12-week long enrichment course focusing on specific topics, including lectures, visits, practical laboratory works and project assignments. Till date, 12 WOS modules have been conducted since 2006.

World of Science, Aerodynamics

Let your knowledge of aerodynamics take flight at the YDSP World of Science Aerodynamics. Here, students will learn in-depth theories and conduct practical applications of all they have learnt throughout the course.

World of Science, Computer Security

Learn about how malware, viruses and trojans can attack your computer and what you can do to protect yourself!  Through this course, students will learn about the fundamentals of computer and network security through a series of interactive hands-on experiments.

World of Science, Cryptography & Wavelets 

Explore the world of mathematics, and its applications to defense science. Learn how number theory can be used in creating secret codes, and how wavelets can be used in image processing.<s></s>

World of Science, Electromagnetics 

Let the world of Electromagnetics excite you with insights into various components of Electromagnetism from electro-static to electro-magnet to electromagnetic wave. Learn how antenna works and have hands-on making simple antenna.  

World of Science, Material Science

This course expounds on fundamental principles leading to unique properties in known materials. Students are also introduced into the world of very novel materials that are currently widely researched on.  

World of Science, Photonics

Delving into the exciting world of Photonics, this course will ensure that all students gain a good understanding of light propagation, fibre optics and lasers.
