Sensors Technology 2007

The fourth YDSP Science & Technology Camp, Sensors Technology 2007 was held from 4 to 8 June 2007. 39 Year 3 Integrated Programme (IP) students participated in the camp where they learnt about how the Defence Technology Community utilizes the various sensors technologies in defence applications

As part of the 5-day programme, the students visited Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK) where they were given a brief by DSTA’s Project Manager Cheng Wee Kiang on the use of autonomous vehicles by the Singapore Armed Forces. The students also had the opportunity to get up close to the locally developed Autonomous Unmanned Vehicle (AUV) jointly developed by DSTA and STK. On top of that, the students visited DSO National Laboratories where they were given a tour of the various laboratories and defence applications done in DSO.

The students then attended a workshop on the construction and programming of AUV using the Roborobo robotic kit at the Singapore Science Centre.

The finale was the competition where the students pit their robots in a series of missions. The winning team from National Junior College received their prize from Tan Yang How, Director DSTA Masterplanning and Systems Architecting, who graced the Prize Presentation Ceremony as the Guest-of-Honour.
