iT-Quest 2006

The third YDSP Science & Technology Camp, iT-Quest 2006, was held from 11 to 15 December 2006 to engage 32 Year 3 Integrated Programme (IP) students in activities related to science and technology. Themed "IT in Defence", students learnt more about how the defence technology community leveraged IT for defence applications.

They were also given a briefing by DSTA's Project Manager Daryl Lee on how modelling and simulation technologies can be applied in computer games to train soldiers. The students then visited DSO National Laboratories where they were given a tour of the various laboratories and defence applications done in DSO.

The students were then able to participate in an animation workshop where they learnt the fundamentals of animation before creating their very own clips based on the theme, "Future of IT in Defence".

On the last day, the students presented their animated clips to a panel of judges, which consisted of engineers and professionals from DSTA, DSO and Singapore Science Centre. The winning team from Victoria Junior College received their prize from Dr Yeoh Lean Weng, Director (C41 Development), who graced the Ceremony as the Guest-of-Honour.
