The fifth YDSP Science & Technology Camp, Technology in Defence 2007 was held from 10 to 14 December 2007. 38 Year 3 Integrated Programme (IP) students participated in the camp where they learnt about how the Defence Technology Community utilized technology in defence applications.
As part of the 5-day programme, the students visited Singapore Technologies (ST) where they were given demonstrations on several projects such as the Air Traffic Control Simulator and the Third Generation Mobilization System. On top of that, the students visited DSO National Laboratories where they were given a tour of the various laboratories and defence applications done in DSO.
The students then attended an animation workshop where they learnt the fundamentals of animation before creating their very own clips based on the theme, “Technology in Defence”.
The finale was the competition where the students presented their animated clips to a panel of judges, which consisted of engineers and professionals from DSTA, DSO and Singapore Science Centre. The winning team from Raffles Institution received their prize from Tan Chee Seng, Director (Emerging Systems), DSO National Laboratories, who graced the Prize Presentation Ceremony as the Guest-of-Honour.
