At the YDSP Congress 2010 held on 8 April 2010, 200 students showed their mettle through their novel concepts and projects that may have future applications in defence science and technology. They had the opportunity to showcase their projects to their parents and guests at an exhibition held in conjunction with the event.
Many had taken part in YDSP activities such as the Science & Technology Camp and the World of Science Programme. Two teams that had participated in the Research@YDSP Programme were also invited to present their projects on stage to an enthralled audience!
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean, who was the Guest of Honour at the Congress, was impressed by the array of creative projects on display. He stopped to chat with some of the student teams, and encouraged them to “push the boundaries of your creativity and imagination, for your dreams and ideas are seeds for the technologies of tomorrow".
The YDSP Scholarship and Academic Awards were also presented to deserving recipients at the Congress. Thirty Integrated Programme Year 3 students were awarded the YDSP Scholarship for their outstanding academic and co-curricular achievements. Another 57 students received the YDSP Academic Awards for excellence in Physics and Mathematics.
